Since its beginning in the Textile Museum in Lyons last February, the exhibition "Travelling lace"has been true to its name since the places where it was shown were multiplying, making it therefore a marvellous ambassador from “Haute-Loire” throughout France.

On August 21st, it was inaugurated in Sète, by Pierre Astor, Mayor and General Councillor for Retournac, and his counterpart for the town of Sète, François Comeinhes, in the Penitents Chapel. Ideally situated between the Tourism Office and the harbour, this church showed the exhibition from Retournac until August 26th 2009, especially during the “Saint-Louis” nautical games, which bring one million visitors to Sète for a whole week.

39600 visitors have already discovered this exhibition. Its tour started in the Textile Museum in Lyons, in February 2009, then in the Chambon-Feugerolles, in Séauve-sur-Semène, in Saugues for the re-opening of the English Tower and for the tenth anniversary of the Museum of the Géaudan Beast, in Aiguilhe for the feast of Assumption, in Sète for the Saint-Louis  nautical games and in Chamalières-sur-Loire when a concert from La Chaise-Dieu Festival was being played. These travels were firstly a mean to publicize the collections of the museum but also the region of Auvergne with a  presentation of the touristic sites and the big names in Auvergne gastronomy.

This exhibition will continue touring in 2010 and we will let you know of its destinations.
